Polyurethane Primer Finish Coat

PU 55
HB DTM Gloss

PU 55 HB DTM Gloss is a two-component, high-build, solvent-based aliphatic polyurethane primer and finish coat designed for direct-to-metal protection of ferrous and non-ferrous surfaces. Its advanced formulation combines additional UV stabilisers, new-generation adhesion promoters and a specialised organic corrosion inhibitor to provide excellent adhesion, weathering resistance and corrosion protection.

The tough, glossy coating forms a highly water-resistant, hydrophobic film with excellent abrasion and impact resistance. Its ability to adhere directly to correctly prepared metal and galvanized steel makes it a versatile solution for structural steel, roofing and cladding, industrial equipment, metal furniture and other demanding interior and exterior applications.

  • Overcoatable
Allows additional coats to be applied where required by the specification.
  • Chemical resistance
Resistant to mild chemicals, dilute industrial chemicals and aqueous solutions.
  • Salt-water resistance
Provides resistance to salt-water exposure within the stated service limitations.
  • Oil and solvent resistance
Resists mineral and vegetable oils, paraffins and aliphatic solvents.
  • High-temperature resistance
Withstands dry continuous temperatures up to 150°C.
  • Wide colour availability
Available in RAL, NCS, SABS, metallic, fluorescent and custom colours.

Intended Uses

PU 55 HB DTM Gloss is designed as a protective and decorative coating for metal surfaces, including applications where direct-to-metal performance is required. It can also be applied over suitably primed substrates as part of a broader protective coating system.

Its combination of corrosion resistance, excellent adhesion, high film build and exterior weathering performance makes it suitable for both new construction and maintenance applications. The cured polyurethane film provides resistance to mild chemicals, salt water, mineral and vegetable oils, paraffins, aliphatic solvents, dilute industrial chemicals and other aqueous solutions.

The coating can also be used where appearance is important. Its gloss finish, UV stability, non-chalking and non-yellowing properties provide a durable aesthetic finish while maintaining the protective performance required for industrial and exterior environments.
