Polyurethane Topcoat

PU 55
HB TOPCOAT

PU 55 HB Topcoat is a two-component, solvent-based, high-build aliphatic acrylic polyurethane finish coat formulated with additional UV stabilisers for demanding interior and exterior applications.

Designed to provide both a protective and decorative high-gloss finish, the coating offers outstanding colour and gloss stability during exterior weathering, together with excellent flexibility, durability and resistance to water and a wide range of mild chemicals.

When combined with a suitable primer system, PU 55 HB Topcoat provides a durable finishing layer for structural steel, industrial equipment, roofing, flooring and other surfaces requiring long-term exterior protection and appearance retention.

Intended Uses

PU 55 HB Topcoat is designed as a high-build protective and decorative finish coat for industrial applications where long-term exterior weathering resistance, colour stability, gloss retention and durability are required.

The coating is intended for application over a recommended compatible primer or anti-corrosive system. Together, the primer and polyurethane topcoat form a protective system capable of providing excellent performance in exterior environments while also delivering a high-quality decorative finish.

Its resistance to water, mild chemicals, salt water, mineral and vegetable oils, paraffins, aliphatic solvents, dilute industrial chemicals and aqueous solutions makes it suitable for a broad range of industrial, structural and equipment applications. The coating can also be recoated after prolonged exterior exposure when the existing surface is correctly cleaned and prepared.

Typical Applications:

  • Structural steel
  • Agricultural equipment
  • Earthmoving equipment
  • Construction equipment and machinery
  • General plant and equipment
  • Industrial machinery
  • Fabricated steel components
  • Roof coatings
  • Industrial roof systems
  • Floor coatings
  • Industrial floors
  • Line demarcation
  • Wall coatings
  • Trafficable surfaces
  • UV-resistant flooring systems
  • Self-levelling epoxy floors
  • Self-levelling polyurethane floors
  • UV-protective topcoats over epoxy systems
  • UV-protective topcoats over polyurethane systems
  • Industrial maintenance
  • Equipment refurbishment
  • Exterior protective coating systems

The product's ability to function as a trafficable UV-protective topcoat over self-levelling epoxy and polyurethane systems extends its use beyond conventional structural and equipment coatings into industrial flooring applications.
